AYC Convo: EP1 - Paving the Pathway for Greater Access to Higher Education for Marginalized Groups

The U.S. Ambassador's Youth Council is delighted to introduce AYC Convo, a live panel discussion initiated with an aim to enhance engagement and broaden conceptual understanding on the topic related to AmCam2021, which is the U.S. Embassy Phnom Penh's exertion that highlight the enduring friendships, shared values, and partnerships between the people of Cambodia and the United States under the theme Prosperity, Principles, Peace, and Partnership.

On the 30th of June 2021, AYC had conducted the first episode AYC Convo under the topic “Paving the pathway for greater access to higher education for marginalized groups”. The discussion was joined by our guest speakers - Ms. Soy Pisey, Communication Officers at United World Schools in Cambodia and Mr. Ros Sereisataya, Education Project Management Specialist at USAID Cambodia and moderated by Ms. Oung Sivven, Public Relation Officer of USAYCkh. The discussion was successfully conducted by dissected the educational experiences for marginalized groups that seek educational opportunities through multilingual programs. The speakers also shared the importances of higher education that could allow students to receive better career opportunities, changing in job market, other relevant skills through the initiated stage of engaging in curricular activities, volunteerism and clear goals in life. Despite the positive side of the discussion, the speakers also touched upon the barriers that can lead to greater access to educational opportunities as well.
